WE HAVE A CRISIS: IT’S CALLED “FAMILY COURT”

If you are navigating a divorce or custody battle with a narcissist or high-conflict co-parent, I know the exhaustion, the fear, and the heartbreak. You are not alone.

Welcome to One Mom’s Battle—a trusted community built to support you with books, resources, retreats, online courses, and the unwavering support of those who understand your journey.

My name is Tina Swithin, and my battle began in 2009 when I stepped into family court, believing truth and child safety would prevail. Instead, I found a system that prioritizes parental rights over the best interest of the child. Family courts are ill-equipped to handle contested cases and often operate under the flawed belief that it “takes two to tango.” The reality? One parent is fighting for power and control, while the other is desperately trying to shield their children from harm.

With no other choice, I acted as my own attorney and fought for nearly a decade. Against all odds, I secured professionally supervised visits and ultimately achieved a termination of parental rights. This experience ignited my passion for family court reform. For the past 15 years, I have been a leading voice and expert in this field. Today, you can find me testifying before legislators and educating those around me on post-separation abuse (a continuation of domestic violence). I've dedicated my life to standing beside parents just like you.

What started as my personal fight is now a global movement of over 250,000 survivors. One Mom’s Battle provides tools like our comprehensive documentation system, as well as referrals to coaches who understand the complexities of your situation.

You are stronger than you realize. You are your child’s greatest advocate. Together, we can protect our children and drive meaningful change.

With strength and solidarity,

The mission of One Mom’s Battle has three key facets:

First, we aim to educate our community members on narcissistic abuse and post-separation abuse as it relates to the family court system. Second, we shine a spotlight on the collusion and corruption within the alienation industry (www.alienationindustry.com), the dark underbelly of the family court system. This industry is driven by reunification profiteers (reunification therapy, reunification programs and reunification camps) who exploit vulnerable families, earning exorbitant fees by forcing children into relationships with parents they have rejected—often due to abusive or neglectful behavior. These professionals employ unscientific and experimental treatments that cause lasting harm and trauma to children and teenagers. We challenge the damaging narrative created and perpetuated by financially motivated family court professionals that children cannot thrive without relationships with both parents. At One Mom’s Battle, we assert that the well-being of children must always come first, and in some cases, the healthiest option is for a child to have one safe, supportive parent. Third, we aim to collaborate with media outlets to expose the family court crisis, which we believe will be recognized as one of the most significant scandals of our time.

Our approach addresses the family court crisis through education, awareness and public exposure of a system (and professionals) prioritizing self-interest and financial gain over child safety. While legislative change is critical, it must be paired with oversight and accountability to ensure rogue judges who act above the law face disciplinary action and consequences. Many judicial officers lack essential education on trauma, domestic abuse, and post-separation abuse while at the other end of the scale, we have collusion and corruption. We aim to highlight these issues while amplifying the voices of teenagers and young adults and simultaneously, advocating for a system that prioritizes the safety and well-being of children - above all else.

In 2009, Tina Swithin found herself navigating a harrowing custody battle in the California Family Court System, representing herself (pro se). Two years into her journey and in a moment of desperation, Tina started a blog titled "One Mom’s Battle," believing she was the only person enduring such a difficult experience in the family court system. At the time, no one else was speaking openly about these challenges, so Tina decided to start the conversation.

Just six months after launching her blog, Tina’s writing caught the attention of Christie Brinkley, who had recently gone public with her own difficult custody battle involving a diagnosed malignant narcissist. The two women connected, and "One Mom’s Battle" began to grow as more and more people reached out for support and shared their similar experiences.

What is:

Post Separation Abuse

“You no longer need to go through the ordeal of divorcing a narcissist alone…

Through this battle, Tina Swithin is a beacon of clarity. You will realize that you are not alone, you are not crazy, and someday you will start to whisper “thank you” to the darkness… thank you to the pain, the fear the struggle even thank you to the narcissist ….because in the darkness you will find light you never knew you had inside your heart, strength you never imagined.”
