Divorcing a Narcissist: A Weekend of PEACE

Divorcing a Narcissist: A Weekend of PEACE

PeaceThis was supposed to be Seth’s visitation weekend: 11am to 5pm on Saturday and the same times again on Sunday. Every other weekend- only four days per month.

Our court order states that he is required to notify me 24-hours in advance if he chooses to exercise his visitation. He normally notifies us a week in advance but I hadn’t heard from him all week. I checked my email first thing this morning- no email. Finally, at 5pm this evening, I sent him an email cancelling his Saturday visit.  Technically, he could still RSVP for Sunday which is what I expected to happen.

The girls and I went out to dinner tonight at the phone rang at 6:30pm and it was Seth. I answered the phone and attempted to pass it across the table to Piper who said out loud, “I don’t want to talk to him” and shook her head with a very firm, “no.” This isn’t normal for her. I attempted to hand the phone to Sarah who said, “I don’t want to talk to him either”.  I know that he heard both girls.

At 8pm this evening, I received the following message by email:

Hi Tina,

I am at a conference representing my employer. The conference attendance was a requirement for my position. I would like to see Piper and Sarah next Saturday and Sunday 11-5 PM please.

Best regards, Seth

I sat there in disbelief. Did he really just put that in writing? I couldn’t think of a better way to show the court how dependable he is in the midst of a custody evaluation. A required conference? He is telling us at 8pm on the eve of his visitation weekend? Brilliant.

Peace. We have a full month of peace in between visits. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover how I am feeling right now.
